About Snow Hill

The Snow Hill community is located in central Fauquier County, Virginia, just 5 miles east of the historic county seat of Warrenton and 12 miles west of Manassas. It is a community of 164 single family homes located on 360 acres of wooded rolling hills. Snow Hill is only 45 minutes from Downtown D.C., just 45 minutes from the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah Valley, and is about an hour's drive to the University of Virginia. The community includes a tennis pavilion with two tennis courts, two aesthetic and peaceful recreational ponds with aquatic water fowl and lots of fish, and 45 acres of wooded common area. Snow Hill is a well-established community originally incorporated in 1985.

Although in a rural setting, Snow Hill residents enjoy convenient access to public and private schools, academies, and a community college. The Town of Warrenton has a wonderful "Old Town" area, with 6 houses of worship, the county court house, post office, library, restaurants plus great shopping at locally owned antique shops, galleries, gift shops, and boutiques. Outside of the historic area, the Warrenton area has the larger establishments of Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Wegman's, Panera Bread, grocery stores, all the big name restaurants including the fast food chains, auto parts stores, and of course four tractor sales and service shops (we are in an agricultural area!).

We are informed that the name "Snow Hill" derives from the locust trees that were abundant on the land years ago. In the spring, when the locust trees were loaded with white flower blossoms, the entire area appeared from a distance to be covered with snow.
